Advanced Physical Science/Physical Science

Grade Level: 9 Credits: five Teacher: Barb Icenogle Tuition: $90

This course provides students who need five hours of ninth grade science credit- either 1st or 2nd term, for credit retrieval. Course will be individualized to accommodate advanced physical science or physical science students who have failed one or both terms. Eighth grade students who would like to earn ninth grade credit may also enroll to allow for additional music or other classes during their freshman year. The other five hours of ninth grade science may be earned the next summer.

*This course will be taught in a relaxed atmosphere with the teacher working in the lab with the students and helping each student with the math and problem solving.

504 ALGEBRA I - Second Term

Prerequisite: Successful completion of first semester Algebra I with a grade C or above.

Grades: 9-10-11-12 Credit: five hours Teacher: Toni Andreasen Tuition: $90

Algebra 1provides: Solving Systems of Equations, Properties of Exponents, equations, Solving Proportions, Simplifying Rational Expressions and Solving Rational Equations, and Simplifying Radicals. A “C” or better is recommended to advance to Geometry or Algebra II.



200 ENGLISH I – First Term

Prerequisite: English 8 Grade: 9 Credit: five hours Teacher: Diane Johnson Tuition: $90

English I provides a study of the various genres of literature, including short stories on an epic, novel. Grammar skills are reviewed. Completion of mini-research paper is expected. Also, students will be required to write the five paragraph expository essay analyzing readings.

205 ENGLISH II –First Term

Prerequisite: English 9 Grades: 10 Credit: Five hours Teacher: Diane Johnson Tuition: $90

English II provides a foundation for the in-depth study and analysis of world literature. The selections are divided by genre as well as theme. Considerable emphasis is placed on the authors’ literary techniques. An understanding of literary terminology provides a foundation for the comparative analysis. This level also stresses the academic disciplines of correct grammar, usage, mechanics, vocabulary and spelling. Composition is an outgrowth of the literature strand. Written composition focuses on the formal expository style. Out lining is taught to help organize the composition. Research paper completion is expected as well as a five-paragraph essay.

209 ENGLISH III – First Term

Prerequisite: English II Grade: 11 Credit: 5 hours Teacher: Diane Johnson Tuition: $90

English 111 provides the study of American authors and their writings from colonial to contemporary times. The chronological approach to literature is used. Emphasis is placed on the historical background and the resulting literature of the period, including a research paper and a five paragraph essay, and the development of both oral and written composition, including a research paper and a five-paragraph essay.
