Kindergarten Registration IS OPEN FOR 24-25.
- A child must be five years old on or before July 31 to be eligible for kindergarten.

Elementary Enrollment
- If you currently have a student enrolled in Kearney Public Schools, you can use the Parent Portal to register your child.

Middle School Enrollment
Middle School Enrollment is a two-step process. First, you must register online, then you and your student will go to the directed middle school to complete the enrollment process.

Kearney High School Enrollment
- New 9-12 grade students should register at Kearney High School in the Guidance Office

Buying a house in a school zone does not guarantee a place in that neighborhood school.
KPS has many schools that have grade levels that are full. In that case, students are involuntarily transferred to a school with room.
Please contact the KPS Enrollment Office at 698-8028 to know which grade levels are full in your neighborhood school.

Items You Will Need When Enrolling
- A Home Language Survey is part of the online registration and helps us to communicate effectively with families and students who speak a language other than English.
- FERPA - Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act form is part of the online registration. Parents may elect to restrict their child's information or allow their child's information to be included in press releases, birthday lists, honors lists, etc.
- Certified Birth Certificate
This needs to have a raised seal. (A copy will be made for our files and your original will be returned) State law requires that all new students must provide a certified copy of the student's birth certificate. - Proof of Residency
You will need proof of Residency in the Kearney Public School district. Your name and address must be on the documents you provide. Examples: Rent receipt, lease agreement, mortgage document, property tax record, voter registration record, current utility bill, government benefits documentation such as Medicare, disability or food stamps.
- Immunizations & Health Forms
Kearney Public School requires all students to be compliant with immunizations per Department of Health and Human Services School Rules & Regulations. Please provide a current immunization record.
- Health Questions
The KPS Health Questions form helps Kearney Public Schools monitor health conditions of all of our students.

Physical Form
This is required for students entering kindergarten and seventh grade. The form is provided by your medical provider and should be signed by a physician. A kindergarten physical cannot be completed any earlier than 6 months prior (February) to entering Kindergarten.
