Welcome!
I have been teaching at KPS since 2014. I teach beginning strings for 5th grade students at each elementary school across the district, as well as the 6th and 7th grade orchestras at Horizon and Sunrise Middle School. I also assist with the orchestra program at Kearney High School. I have a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Luther College and a Master's degree in Music Education from the University of Nebraska Kearney. Teaching music is my passion!
Since I travel between several schools each day, the best way to contact me is by email: [email protected].

Middle School Orchestra
Sixth-grade orchestra students will continue developing basic technical and fundamental skills on their instrument. Students are highly encouraged to have previous string experience (fifth-grade orchestra, Summer Orchestra Camp, etc.). Students are encouraged to provide their own stringed instrument. Essential Elements for Strings Book 1 is used as a general reference. Students are required to complete weekly practice assignments and will participate in three concerts throughout the year.
Seventh-grade orchestra students will continue developing more advanced technical and fundamental skills on their instruments through large group rehearsals and sectionals. Students are encouraged to provide their own stringed instrument. Essential Elements for Strings Book 2 is used as a general reference. Students are required to complete weekly practice assignments and will participate in three concerts throughout the school year. Students must have previous string experience.
Sunrise orchestra students meet on odd-numbered days; Horizon orchestra students meet on even-numbered days.
5th Grade Orchestra
Fifth-grade students have the opportunity to participate in orchestra as an elective-pull out class. Fifth-grade orchestra is a year-long program that introduces the basics of playing a stringed instrument. Students will learn instrumental posture, left-hand technique, right-hand technique, and note reading. Students perform in one recital at the end of the year.
